Counsel in the Court - Family Law

Lower-income Hoosiers (not already represented by an attorney) can get free legal advice on family law cases.

The attorney cannot represent you in court but can meet with you for approximately 30 minutes. During your session, the attorney can answer your questions, review legal documents, and prepare legal documents.

As of April 26, 2024, clinics are offered in Monroe and Clay Counties for only family law cases. District 10 offers a clinic for general civil law issues in Putnam County in collaboration with the law firm of Faegre Drinker Biddle, Indiana Legal Services, and DePauw University. Clinics are walk-in, first-come, first-served, unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Please check our calendar to see dates, times, and places.

Family law legal clinics in Greene, Lawrence, Owen, and Morgan will be active by July 2024. Please check back for more details!

    Attorney Representation

Some applicants will be eligible to be matched with a volunteer attorney for full, in-court, representation. All civil areas of law can be eligible.

Applicants will be screened for income eligibility and case merit. The income limit is 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. Unfortunately, we do not have enough volunteer attorneys for all eligible applicants.

You can apply for services over the phone. Please click below for the phone numbers and intake hours.

This service is temporarily on hold.
